Description:
Ryton BR111 is a natural-colored glass fiber and mineral filled polyphenylene sulfide compound that provides enhanced mechanical strength with good electrical properties and outstanding chemical resistance, even at elevated temperatures.
Ryton BR111BL is a black-colored glass fiber and mineral filled polyphenylene sulfide compound that provides enhanced mechanical strength with good electrical properties and outstanding chemical resistance, even at elevated temperatures.
Ryton BR42B 40% glass fiber reinforced polyphenylene sulfide compound is specially formulated to provide low coefficient of friction and reduced wear rate for use in applications requiring low surface friction and/or wear.
Ryton XK2340 40% glass fiber reinforced polyphenylene sulfide alloy compound provides excellent mechanical strength, toughness, and rigidity, along with excellent flow in thin-walled parts, low flash characteristics, and fast cycle times. It may be easily molded in conventional injection molding equipment utilizing water heated molds.
Overview:
Ryton is a semi-crystalline, high-heat polymer that offers exceptional dimensional stability for precision-molded components needing to withstand prolonged, high-temperature service. It is inherently flame retardant and offers chemical resistance comparable to PEEK and fluoropolymers.
Main Properties:
A remarkable combination of both long-term and short-term thermal stability
Exceptionally high modulus and creep resistance
Outstanding chemical resistance to a wide variety of aggressive chemical environments
Precision molding to tight tolerances with high reproducibility
Inherent non-flammability without flame retardant additives
Dielectric and insulating properties stable over a wide range of conditions
Ryton compounds offer a unique combination of properties and a cost/performance balance unmatched by other engineering thermoplastics:
Thermal Stability: A remarkable combination of both long-term resistance to temperatures up to 200°C (392°F) and short-term resistance to temperatures up to 260°C (500° F)
Dimensional Stability: Even complex parts could be molded with very tight tolerances and will maintain dimensional stability even at elevated temperatures and and in harsh chemical environment
Chemical Resistance: Resistant to a wide variety of solvents and corrosive chemicals even at elevated temperatures
Inherent Flame Retardancy: All Ryton compounds have UL94 V-0 flammability ratings without flame retardant additives
Market Applications
In Automotive, Ryton is used in components required to withstand high temperatures, mechanical stress and corrosive automotive fluids. By replacing metal, Ryton reduces fuel consumption, lowers costs and improves system integration.
In Electrical/Electronic, Ryton meets performance requirements for connectors, sockets, relays and switches, bobbins and coils, electronic packaging, and encapsulated devices.
For Appliances, Ryton is used to replace metals, thermosets, and lower performing plastics in motors and controls, pumps, fans and blowers, and E/E components used in HVAC and other demanding applications.
